Letter To The Editor: A Word About The Poppies
Dear editor:
We’d like to inform the public that the Legion does not sell poppies. The poppies are given as a thank you for any donations that the public may care to make, and we hope that people will wear them to honour veterans past and present as a sign of respect. Please wear them on the left-hand side, over your heart. We’d also like to point out that the poppy funds are not fundraisers for the Legion; not one cent of the poppy funds goes to the Legion. The poppy funds go towards supporting veterans and families of veterans in need, as well as the upkeep of the war memorials. Also, the Legions do sponsor cadet groups. We are always seeking new members. Finally, we always welcome donations, and we’d like to thank all those who have donated thus far. We hope to see you all on November 11th.
